Sorry I am late posting this weeks pictorial.
You see, I took a good friend of mine to go see Aladdin at the El Capitan Theatre, and the only day that we both could see it was on a Friday evening.
So without further a doo-doo, let's go visit the Disneyland Resort
Don't be mad, bro
Christmas ornamnets
Mickey with his favorite stuffed friend, Duffy
At first, I thought these were like strawberry people.
But up close, they are Minnie Mouse head shaped ornaments
These look like they could be in a parade of some sort, maybe the Christmas Parade
Cute mugs
Treasures in Paradise selling Star Wars merchandise
Divers in the Bay
Man, I feel sorry for the Cast Members working Silly Symphony Swings.
They have nothing to block the sun.
I wonder how difficult it is to watch for Guest safety when you're blinded by the sun
At least she's improvising.
Even with sunglasses on, she still needs help blocking out the sun.
Looking over at Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters, we see that the orange car is out on the field.
We have seen the orange car a number of times being tested over the past month.
But... some time later, we see another car.
This time, a turquoise colored car
Speaking of Cars,
Guests enjoying Radiator Springs Racers.
This part always make my stomach tickle
The "G" was kept in Flying.
But it will be removed for Rollickin'
Want to learn to draw a specific character?
Well, this new sandwich sign out front of the Animation Building can help you.
It displays the characters and what time the learning class starts
Officer Blue ... and white
Working the street of Buena Vista Street
It's getting warm fast.
Grizzly River Run is a hit when it comes to warm weather
Splash Zone
Halloween treats at the Trolley Candy Treats
Disneyland
Floral Mickey all decked out for Halloween Time
Disneyland is still celebrating the diamond celebration, so can't forget the diamond
Two omnibuses
Did you hear?
That the Diamond celebration will last all the way until September 5, 2016
This will be just shy of a 16 month celebration
This is no ordinary apple mug.
It's a magic wishing apple mug.
A wishing apple mug?
Yes, One drink, and all your dreams come true
Now, make a wish, and take a sip
Innoventions turning into the Star Wars Launch Bay
In two months, Space Mountain will be transformed into Hyper Space Mountain, as part of Season of the Force
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters still offering FastPass
Butterflies fluttering around in the planters at the entrance to Tomorrowland
They're ... twitterpated
Soon, this will be gone to make way for Star Wars Land
In preparation for the building of the Star Wars Land, work will require several attractions to be closed temporarily.
Majority of attractions closing will be those using the Rivers of America as well as the Disneyland Railroad
Just think, for a year (give or take), these attractions will be not be operating.
No Fantasmic!
No cruises around the River aboard a steamboat or an 18th-century sea vessel
No exploring on the island, in search of Pirate treasure.
None of that for a year.
So it will affect those who visit Disneyland on a weekly and daily basis
Walking by, the scent of this was so strong, my stomach started to turn.
No wonder why they have masks on.
Mr Toad plush
Ouch!
On a Friday too
That will conclude this weeks Disneyland Resort pictorial
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out
Feel free to leave a comment
Until Next Time...
How was Aladdin at the El Capitan? I always find it a treat to see movies there, with the live organ and great atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteDo you have an opinion about the closing of Aladdin at the Hyperion? Part of me would like to see the show continue indefinitely, but I'd much prefer a show like Mary Poppins (formerly on Broadway) or Tangled (coming to the Disney Cruise Line) than a show based on Frozen, which has limited appeal to certain demographics. We made sure to see Aladdin on our most recent visit after the closure announcement. I was asking cast members inside the theater if there was any chance there might be a reprieve for Aladdin, and they seemed to think it was definitely closing.
Great find on the second test car at the new Luigi's ride. Hoping to see your photos of a whole bunch of cars on the open area before the ride finally opens.
One year plus to close the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer's Island, Fantasmic, and the Disneyland Railroad seems really long (though I read that construction of Splash Mountain closed the railroad for an extended period, and I'm sure the Pirates and Haunted Mansion constructions led to similar closures). I remember reading a rumor on another site that Tokyo Disneyland considered permanently closing the Rivers and Tom Sawyer Island in their Westernland to build a new Cars Land area there. I think for so many fans, having the river and the various ships and boat traffic sailing by is a central part of what the park is about, so it's a big shock. But at least the park is giving fans a few months' notice, to get in a few more visits and plan out their future trips. (When Knott's Berry Farm closed their Timber Mtn. log ride for a six month refurbishment a couple years ago, I think they made the announcement on Jan. 1st for a closure starting a week later. )
Aladdin at the El Capitan was great!
DeleteI remember when the animated movie came out on VHS, my brothers and I would watch it over and over and over again.
How do I feel about Aladdin closing?
Well, if you were asking me 4 years ago, I would have said that it doesn't bother me at all that it's going away.
But, I got to know someone really well who works in the Aladdin show. And I always enjoy watching him perform as much as I can. So with it closing, I am a little sadden by it because I know it affects him.
Now about the closure of the Rivers of America and the attractions that occupy said River....
Obviously it's not uncommon for the River and its attractions to close for its usual refurbishment. And many are used to that sort of thing. And those typically last anywhere from two to six months, depending on what is needed.
Now, when Splash Mountain and Fantasmic! were added, I don't know how long the River was closed to accommodate the addition of those attractions as I was only going once a year back then. I wonder, if people still visited Disneyland once or twice a year, would this River closure be such a big issue.
With many Annual Passholders visiting Disneyland daily/weekly, the closure of the River and its attractions will affect many of them. No Fantasmic!, no steamboat cruises, no exploring... none of that for a year.
