It's good to be back at Disney on a Friday.
The big news today is the announcement that the Disneyland Resort will be banning selfie sticks come June 30.
Recently, the Disneyland Resort started to ban the selfie sticks on attractions, where they could easily be extended past the length of a human arm. Many times, the sticks themselves would get damaged. And to protect Guests from any type of debris it could cause, the Parks started to prohibit the use of them on attractions.
Now, just like museums, concert events, and other public entertainment venues, Selfie Sticks will not be allowed inside either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure
The Cast Members here at the Bag Check will have their work cut out for them once the ban takes place.
When a selfie stick is observed, a designated Cast Member will escort the Guest(s) to Lost and Found, where Guest Relations will tag the stick and give the Guest(s) a claim slip to retrieve the stick upon leaving. All Guests must adhere to this new policy. If a Guest(s) refuses, Security will be called out.

At Humphry's, this Coca-Cola sign had been hanging for more than a month.
But no drinks could be found inside.
If no drinks were being sold (at the time), why have a coca-cola sign?
Because they knew eventually there would be a place to sell soda.
Last week this refreshment stand opened up just outside of Humphry's

While in Fantasyland...
I noticed that Dumbo is no longer handing out the plastic feathers to Guest in line.
Instead, they now hand out pieces of paper with a magic feather picture on it.
Guests would either keep the feathers, or they get damaged, or lost. So this probably cuts down on the costs of having to keep replacing the feathers

Hooray. No More Selfie Sticks. I Am Happy that It will go away. Thank You, Disney Parks Around the World.
ReplyDeleteThey were giving out the fake feathers at Dumbo when we visited in May too. The CM told me it was because they didn't always get returned. I thought it was sad because the paper ones look so cheesy. I don't understand how guests kept them since they were supposed to use them to get on the ride. Perhaps they lied and asked for 2 Dumbos and then only got in one or something.
ReplyDeleteFantastic pictorials. I will be bookmarking this site.
