It's that time of week again.
Visiting the Disneyland Resort
With both Parks opening at 9 a.m. on this day, I get to sleep in a bit.
Yippee!!!
Getting to the Main Entry Plaza around 8:40 a.m., Disney California Adventure has a heft amount of Guest waiting to get in.
Disneyland has a good size crowd going too
That's one giant cupcake
Paradise Pier themed rope flags.
These are being used for the Boardwalk Games
Riding Mickey's Fun Wheel
Looking over at Luigi's Flying Tires refurbishment
Looks like the seagulls have found a nice home in the bay
Checking out Humphrey's Store at Grizzly Peak Airfield
Some animal finger puppets
Uh-oh, the Grizzly Peak Park Service decal is missing, exposing the old Condor Flats Air Tours logo
How it looked not too long ago.
Even from this picture, it looks like the decal isn't sticking to the stabilizer
Disneyland time!!
Over on Main Street U.S.A.
The Cinderella animated window display debuted, joining the Peter Pan window
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo
This is suppose to be the transformation sequence, but I don't know if it's just because it's daylight and the effect can't be seen or if it's just not working properly
The garden rotates to reveal the Prince and Cinderella dancing
So this is love
mmm.m.mm.mmm
And now some night shots of the window...
And now, a 10 minute video of the window display
Continuing on ....
So for some time now, Autopia's FastPass has been unavailable due to the closure of Innoventions
But.....
Over at Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, something has returned
FastPass return times?!?
That's right. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is now back as a FastPass attraction.
My theory is that with the loss of the FastPass from Autopia, Disney still wanted to maintain a certain number of FastPass attractions available to the Guests. Since Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters was a FastPass attraction in its early years, they probably decided to bring that option back.
The last two Star Tours FastPass machines have been turned into Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters FastPass machines
Temporary signage for Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters FastPass
The machines are still themed to Star Tours as this FastPass is just temporary until August.
After that, it's up in the air as to what Disney will do
This is how the separate the Star Tours FastPass machines from the Buzz Lightyear FastPass machines
Well look at that, Death Star balloons
With Thor and Captain America next door, greeting Guests, it's only fitting that the Tomorrowlanding Store sell Marvel merchandise
Gone are all the different style of hats
Old Geppetto's shop
I can breath over here.
Why though?
What do these signs state?
I think this smoking section has come and gone so many times
Don't worry Mama, I won't touch your darlings
What a difference a week makes.
Last week, there were flowers, real flowers, in little carts along Center Street
Now, they are once again gone.
What gives??
And look... glass slippers.
Well, one of them anyways.
Now it's time to head out....
But as I walk through Downtown Disney, there is something happening by the ESPN Zone
And with that, that will conclude today's pictorial
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out
Feel fee to leave a comment
Until Next Time...
I am curious, do you own a Disney annual pass or do you pay for a regular parkhopper ticket every Friday? Have a great weekend. Thanks for the pictorial :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for another great update. I wrote last week about all the trouble you went through covering the 24 hour party for the 60th celebration.
ReplyDeleteAbout the return of the Buzz Lightyear FastPasses, a cast member told someone who posted on Twitter that something new at Innoventions will be replacing the Autopia Fastpasses, which was the reason for re-adding the Buzz Lightyear FastPasses. But all the talk on one of the Disneyland forums is that this is preparation for introducing FastPass+ to Disneyland, starting with rides like Buzz Lightyear and Peter Pan.
Do you have any thoughts about this? Thanks in advance.
At first I didn't know who you were talking about. Skip ahead like 4 hrs later and come across who were're referring to.
DeleteWhen it comes to FastPass+ (and MagicBands) I am so oblivious to it all and how it all works. Whenever either of those things are mentioned, my mind goes blank. It just seems like too much of a hassle. Whether or not it is, I can't say for sure as I haven't experienced either of them.
Sometimes I wish to go back to simpler times where everyone waited in the same line. If you didn't like the posted wait, you either visited later or didn't visit it at all. Just because options are available doesn't mean those options are better.
Sorry, I just saw your reply. I thought I checked for a few days after my initial post, but maybe I needed to be signed in?
DeleteI apologize, I re-read what I wrote, and it was pretty confusing. I believe quite a few people don't really like the FastPass system, largely because they believe the standby wait time on popular rides really mushrooms because of the FastPasses (I think this was especially true when the park didn't really enforce the return times on the passes).
I remember going with my kids on Big Thunder three times in one afternoon using the Fast Pass, and breezing by the people stuck in the standby line. Then, we had used up our FastPass time and got in the standby line for Splash Mountain, which was moving SO slowly around 8 pm because so many people were coming back with their FastPasses (probably many of them expired), and the standby line was just not moving. It really gave me a different perspective on the merits of the Fast Pass system, especially because regular visitors to Disneyland, such as annual passholders, know best how to use the Fast Pass and take maximum advantage of the system.
But I've heard interviews with Tony Baxter, where he says the E ticket rides were more special in the days of the ticket books, because you had a financial disincentive to go on Space Mountain five times in a row. He said it also helped out the smaller rides because people had to use their A, B, and C tickets on something like the Swiss Family Treehouse or Main Street vehicles.
