Ah, I love Friday's when I visit the Disneyland Resort.
Even when there isn't much going on, it's still a nice place to visit for a couple of hours
Starting our day at Disney California Adventure
Disney characters as Star Wars characters
How did Duffy get into the mix?
Marvel on Buena Vista Street
The Disney Parks Blog announced that Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters will officially open on March 7, 2016.
I peeked inside to see if anything is noticeable.
And the one thing that caught my eye was the poster for the new tires that Luigi's Cassa Della Tires is promoting, the Danza tires
Promotion.
Cause, you know, Disney needs all the publicity it can get. Especially with Harry Potter opening up at Universal Studio Hollywood
Disneyland time
A new exhibit is being displayed at the Opera House
View the new Disney's Steam Trains exhibit
Time for a little ride on a runaway mine train.
Was handed one of the electronic wait time cards as I entered the queue for Big Thunder
While waiting to board, these markers caught my attention as I had never noticed them before.
Love the small details
I always love looking at the tracks wind around the mountain
MMmmm...fooood
With Big Thunder Ranch removed, the scenery reminds me of the early days of Disneyland, when many areas were still being constructed. Or there were not many fully grown trees.
With the stage and ranch all gone, you can what was behind it.
Tarps go all the way down the old Big Thunder trail to prevent anyone looking as construction is underway for Star Wars Land
As I got close to the Haunted Mansion, I am just looking around, debating if I wanted to go see the train in the Frontierland / New Orleans Square station when I saw something through the trees.
A new fence has been placed on the hillside of the Haunted Mansion queue
I guess this would be fall protection for those who work on the hillside, like gardeners
Speaking of hillsides...
A look at the continuing clearing of the River bank on the back side as Disneyland is preparing for Star Wars Land
I guess this tree is being saved
Wha-?
What is this?
Dam Disney!
DDDDAAAAMMMMmmm Disney!
Is Disney getting ready for a cofferdam?
You have escaped Tron's Game Grid for now Users
But take heed
Next time you may not fare so well.
It's 11 am, that means the Hungry Bear Restaurant is now open.
Time to head over there to snap! snap! snap! some shots! shots! shots!
By turning guns into wands, bubble makers can once again be sold at the Disneyland Resort
Time to head home, but first, as stop at the Mickey and Friends parking structure
Wow!
Looking at this, I am glad it's time for me to head out
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out
Feel free to leave a comment
Until Next Time...
Nice photos of Big Thunder Mountain and the construction beyond it. Sometimes I like to stop by the Disneyland Hotel just to see the big model of Big Thunder Mountain there. Although it's hard for me to follow the path of the coaster from beginning to end, despite how many times I've ridden the ride.
ReplyDeleteI am guessing those Big Thunder plaques are somewhere on the loading platform. Maybe they are new since the ride had the big refurbishment in 2013-14?
I never realized that from the Mickey parking structure, you could see the back of the Toontown mountains and land border. (Maybe it's visible now because of the new construction?) It reminds me of the views of Cadillac Ridge from Katella Avenue around the Anaheim Convention Center: obviously fake from the backside, as much as it looks perfect from inside the land. At least with Toontown, you have to go through a lot of trouble to see the backside of the mountains and land border.
It must be gratifying to have the new Luigi attraction almost open after so many weeks of taking photos from the Fun Wheel. I didn't read your blog when the Cars Land was being built, but I imagine you did similar coverage during the many months of construction.
When I saw the first photo of the Tomorrowland Terrace, I was expecting more photos of tight pants. I think last week's video and photo essay have ruined the Jedi kids show for me. I will not be able to see the show again without thinking of the Tonight Show and the Tight Pants skit.
The Big Thunder model is pretty cool. Whenever I am at the Hotel, it's one place I like to stop at.
DeleteThose plaques are in the loading station. I was thinking the same thing about they were possibly put in after this last refurbishment and I just never noticed it because there is only one on each loading side of the station.
You can see a lot from the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure, even before they started to clear out any structures for Star Wars Land. All of the backside of ToonTown was visible before.
I can't wait for Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters to open. It will be nice to not have to ride the Fun Wheel each week. Although I wonder if that will change once Star Wars Land construction begins to take place. :)
Thanks for checking out the pictorial.
I noticed the elevation on the Big Thunder Mountain plaque is the same as the sign on Main Street Station: 138 FT.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. It didn't hit me that they were the same numbers :)
DeleteThank you for the update! I was at the park yesterday and the tree carnage that is visible from the parking structure is almost to much to handle. Who came up with the idea of chopping down all of Walt's trees and who approved that idea? I still don't get it....or maybe I do. Anything for a buck, right?
ReplyDeleteAre those the tops of the old Nature's Wonderland rocks that we are seeing in your two "top of the second chain lift" photos? I hope so. Although, I guess just because they are still standing today, doesn't necessarily mean they will still be standing tomorrow. Disney management really doesn't care about anything anymore do they.....except that all mighty dollar. It really does make me sick. Thank you again, for the update and the pics. Even though it will be horrific, I will be watching your future updates to see what else they are destroying....especially since I WILL NOT BE RENEWING my annual pass when it expires later this year. Please keep up the good work! I enjoy your posts, even though I don't always comment! :-)
Word is that the old Nature's Wonderland rocks will remain and I am glad about that.
DeleteIf they were removed, would I be upset? Hmm..probably not. Disappointed? Yes, because I would be asking the question "Why? Why couldn't two little rock formations withstand the construction of a new land? It would probably cost more to remove them than to keep them there."
So, if something had to be salvaged, I am glad it's those rock formations.
