Is Spring Break over?
I mean, the Disneyland Resort hours have been adjusted. It's that time when the parks don't open late, but they don't open early.
Today, both Parks opened at 9 am.
Because not much is going on in Disney California Adventure, I wanted to visit Disneyland first.
Typically when the Parks would open at 8 am, I would spend about an hour in Disney California Adventure, then head over to Disneyland.
Well, since Disneyland and Disney California Adventure opened at 9 am, I went inside Disneyland first, because that's the usual time frame I would be in that Park, and I wanted to stick to "schedule"
Getting inside Disneyland around 8:55 am
Waiting for the Park to open
My first stop would be Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
It appears that most everyone was heading that way.
It had been closed Mon - Thurs for a short refurbishment
Star Wars Land construction
Firework launcher can be seen
I like turtles!
Big Thunder Trail ... now looks like a trail
Splash Mountain closed. Not sure if it's just temporary at this time. It's not listed to be under refurbishment on the Disneyland App
Looking at the dry River
Markers have been placed.
For what? Not sure
My first thought is that it's where the track for the Mark Twain / Sailing Ship Columbia is gonna be placed.
Autopia cars
The line to register for the Jedi Training Trials of the Temple
You sunk my Pirate Ship!
Have your very own Crystal Skull
Now Disneyland is getting busier
Now at Disney California Adventure
Hungry?
A wall has been placed at the courtyard of the Hyperion Theater
With the Food and Wine Festival taking place, I guess there's no time to learn how to draw a bowl of Fruit
As you can see, the Food and Wine booths have not opened yet for Guests
While walking towards the Avenue of the Food and Wine Festival, I was watching Guests order some cotton candy.
And that's when I notice this little do hickey on an Outdoor Vending Cart.
The Mickey reminds me of the symbol used for the Magic Bands at Walt Disney World
I wonder if they plan on letting Guests pay for their items with their smart phone.
Using Apple Pay, Android Pay, Samsung Pay, etc.
Another look at the Disney Vacation Club spot at the Blue Sky Cellar
Although Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters is alright, I still can't believe that the LA Times gave it a glowing review.
Watching the attraction a number of times already, I constantly see Guests leave the queue once they see what the attraction does.
Come on people! This is a great ride! The LA Times says so.
Watching the attraction, I have often fantasized different dance routines and if that would have made the attraction any more fun.
But with the glowing review from Brady MacDonald, I have a feeling that Disney won't see the need to change it.
The back of the station wagon was open, filled with camping essentials
Great window decals on the station wagon
Brownstone National Park - Humphrey and Ranger J Audubon Woodlore can be found
Eureka Gold and Timber Company - The mining company that can be found in Grizzly Peak
Rainbow Caverns - Referencing the old Frontierland attraction "Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland"
Texas Land of Heroes - Davy Crockett
Pack Mule Days - Referencing the old Frontierland attraction Pack Mules (1955 - 1973)
Riding the Tram to the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure
Checking out the construction of Star Wars Land
That will conclude today's pictorial
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out

Until Next Time...
Oh man, all these awesome photos are making me even more excited to see Star Wars Land when its completed. It'll be so fun to track the progress over the next few years! Can't wait to see it start to fill in with trees and buildings and decor!
ReplyDeleteIt's super cool to see so much of Disneyland from outside the park, sort of like peeling away a magic barrier that prevented it before. While I'm glad it's temporary, it is still a pretty neat experience while we have it! Thanks for taking advantage and documenting it!!
I wonder what will become of the ol' Skyway Chalet. It seems like they could have torn it out to make a bit more room for the new land, perhaps they have another plan for it? Also, that little house with the tree fort next to it, I can't quite put my finger on where that is. Was it in Big Thunder Ranch?
With a lot of trees removed, it is interesting to see the back side of the park exposed so much. You get a different perspective of the area.
DeleteI am glad that the Skyway Chalet is still there. If they had to touch it, they may have to close Casey Jr (and maybe Storybook Land too) to do it since the building is pretty much right up against it.
The cabin, that's the old burning cabin / Mike Fink house that you see while riding the Mark Twain / Sailing Ship Columbia
I echo Jake's sentiments...really great to be able to see things come to fruition. Thanks for the great shots!
ReplyDeleteOne question: what was appreared to be a magic band station used for?
I saw it on an outdoor vending cart
DeleteI am not sure what it will be used for.
Maybe it will be used for the Smart Phone Pay Apps (Apple, Samsung, etc)
I think that dump truck looks like one that helped build the original Disneyland.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me more of Lots-O-Huggin' Bear when he rode the dump truck in the Pixar Play Parade
DeleteThanks for the weekly updates! Always great pics.
ReplyDeleteDid a little digging and found a few updates about development around the resort. It doesn't look like Disney is doing too much to purchase older motels around the resort. There are a ton of new Marriott, Hyatt and Wyndham developments popping up.

But they are moving forward with their new parking structure. Conceptual development review was presented to the City of Anaheim on February 23, 2016.
I like the panoramic shots of the entire construction area. It gives you a greater view of this massive project. It is also really cool to see them digging out the corner of he project which I assume is in preparation for one of the big show buildings.
