With Labor Day marking the end of the Summer season, and Halloween Time starting next week, it doesn't give a whole lot of time for the Disneyland Resort to rest and relax a bit.
It is also a short window of time when both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure see little crowds.
Getting to the Disneyland Resort Main Entrance Plaza at 8:40 a.m.
The temporary Guardians of the Galaxy posters have been removed from left side tunnels
Walking down Main Street with such ease
Once rope dropped, I, along with quite a few other people, mostly parents with kids, dash across the Sleeping Beauty Castle drawbridge
And many of us get in line for the Frozen Meet and Greet
What's this?
A FastPass for Frozen Meet and Greet?
Yup! Well, more like a Return Time
Return ticket times start handing out during Early Entry or at Disneyland opening (depending on the operation day).
Everyone who wants / plans to meet Anna and Elsa must get a Return Ticket by having their Park Admission Ticket or Annual Passport scanned.
As you can see, the window time is only a 30 minute window. It is not like the FastPass system where it gives you a return window of an hour.
Once Guests come back with their Return Ticket at the appropriate time, they must also present the ticket or AP that was previously scanned because they will once again be scanned to make sure it's the same ticket / AP
This Return Ticket system is the only way to see Anna and Elsa as there is no "Stand-By" queue.
Once all the Return Tickets have been handed out, the Meet and Greet will be "Booked Out".
Those who missed on obtaining a Return Ticket can see Anna and Elsa on the Frozen float before the parade
Cast Member are scanning Tickets and Annual Passports.
As you can, there are no machines to distribute the FastPass tickets.
One Cast Member has all the pre-printed tickets. The Cast Members scanning tell the Cast Member with the FP tickets on how many is needed, then that Cast Member gives the corresponding number of FP tickets being requested.
Just like standard FastPass, Guests can not request a specific time to return
The "Sailing Ship" can still be seen
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was a walk on
The Legends of Frontierland game has been extended until further notice
Whoa! What's happening here at the Royal Courtyard between Port Royal and Pieces of Eight?
Could this be a new "Court of Angels" since the other one is being used strictly for Club 33 members?
"But everyone knows that there is only one Court of Angels and it's here"
If this indeed does become a "Court of Angels" to replace the previous one, it is amazing that Disneyland is sacrificing merchandise shelving for this.
But then again, maybe the merchandise (which was mostly pirate themed) wasn't selling
Would this then be considered the "Royal Court of Angels"?
The Haunted Mansion once again is being transformed to Haunted Mansion Holiday, opening next week
I am guessing this window is pretty much finished and no more work will be added to it
So I went back to the Royal Courtyard to get some more shots, but then I noticed the black curtain was closed all the way
Before, the curtain was pulled to the side and anyone could easily see in by just going up to the gate.
I wonder if someone noticed me taking shots and decided to put an end to it. Because when I went up to the gate, I thought I would see if I could peek through the black curtain and I couldn't
The Adventure Trading Company has left Adventureland
I wonder if our Jungle Cruise will get the same kind of treatment Tokyo Disneyland's Jungle Cruise recently got with their "Wildlife Expedition"
If we do, just leave out the Lion King theme
Over at Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, almost all the walls have been removed from the lagoon edge
Even the scuba divers have named their boat "Shark Bait"
A little after 10 a.m. and little waits for most major attractions
Main Street vehicles were being put away at the moment
I wonder if they are coming over here because of the possible corridor construction taking place on the other side of Main Street
Disney California Adventure time...
The patriotic bunting has been removed from Buena Vista Street
And over at Treasures in Paradise, something else have been removed...
Duffy the Disney Bear Meet and Greet has been removed
Out with Duffy and (soon) In with Oswald... on Buena Vista Street though
Some Duffy merchandise can be found inside Treasures in Paradise
Workers pouring some asphalt along the tram route
That will conclude today's pictorial
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out
Feel free to leave a comment
Until Next Time...
I think the problem with Duffy is that he is simply a character in the park. If they want him to be more successful, he should be included in cartoons and movies. I think they should also start including Oswald in more than just the Epic Mickey video game. He should be in cartoons and movies with the rest of the Disney gang.
ReplyDeleteOh, I totally agree.
DeleteI feel like Disney thought Duffy would take off and be a success like it is in Japan with little to no work or effort on their part.
I am astounded that Duffy lasted almost 4 years at Disney California Adventure. I feel like they were holding out as much as possible with him, in the hopes that eventually he would be popular with the US crowds

ReplyDeleteIt's not unprecedented. After all, Disneyland got rid of merchandising space (The Disneyana shop) to provide a seating area for The new Market House.
With the Market House, I bet anything that they are bringing in more cash flow daily than the Disneyana store brought in, thanks to in part the Starbucks name. So I don't see it as a sacrifice for them to lose the Disneyana store for expanded Market House seating.
