Visiting the Disneyland Resort on a Saturday. Because my U-verse went out on Thursday. And because I needed to get that resolved, I had to do it on Friday during the time I would normally visit the Disneyland Resort. And so I decided that I would just get the internet and television fixed on Friday and focus on going to the Disneyland Resort early Saturday morning
Walking through the bag check, I come across the wall in the middle of the Main Entrance Plaza. The compass is getting some work done
Disneyland and Halloween Time
Disneyland announced via its blog that the "Legends of Frontierland" will cease after Sept 27, 2014
Even the little ghouls can get Haunted Mansion themed merchandise
Work continues over in the Royal Courtyard
With the ODV tents temporarily gone, it makes it a great time to get some shots of the abandoned Skyway Chalet
Facade work continues over at "it's a small world"
The white canvas blends in with the white and gold facade
Halloween? In ToonTown?
Well not exactly. The bunting here at the gazebo is the extent of it for now.
But the bunting here... ugh, couldn't they have tried to make it look pretty?
Hopefully Halloween Time will make its way to Mickey's neighborhood.
Submarine activity at the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
The Magic Eye theater will host a sneak peek at Big Hero 6 from the Walt Disney Animation Studio starting Sept 26, 2014
Over at the Frozen Meet and Greet, new signs have been placed indicating that a Return Time Ticket is needed and that they (unfortunately) have been distributed for the day
Cast Members explaining to Guests the new Frozen Meet and Greet procedure
Heading to the Halloween Carnival since I couldn't make it last week.
They need to redo this sign as this sign states "Hear Haunted Hillbillies"
But the thing is, there are no Hillbillies to hear.
Disneyland let them go back in January 2014
So unless the bring in different hillbillies, this sign is wrong
Walking by at first, the gates were closed
No time for lunch as I gotta go check out the Halloween Carnival
The Pirates League has set up shop
Conjure a Villain inside the tent
Play games or sorts
I like how the Carnival Treats have been pushed off to the side instead of being in the middle of the Carnival
Nothing says a Halloween Carnival like some crafts
New this year is a Gypsy medium who entertains Guests as they wait to Conjure a Villain inside the tent.
"If someone offers you an apple.. don't take it"
"Oh, you will have a great time inside. But try not to let any evil follow you out. 'Cause we don't want evil roaming the streets"
Pumpkin carvings
Mickey and his friends roam the area
There was even a magic show put on.
During this act, two volunteers were called to the stage
The magic act was your typical standard magic act
Even the famous pulling a rabbit out of the hat trick was performed
Scary ghost "floating" by
The scaffolding were removed from the Photo Supply Co on Main Street USA
One of the flower beds near City Hall was getting work done
Heading across the Main Entrance Plaza to Disney California Adventure
This is the area for the Oswald meet and greet on Buena Vista Street
And speaking of Oswald, here he comes!
Oswald, making his first state side appearance here at the Disneyland Resort
Before this, the only place to see Oswald was at Tokyo Disney Sea
Not much of a crowd gathered
But still more than Duffy.
Granted it makes sense to have him here since he's near the Oswald Gas Station, but I wonder if he would have the same reception if he were to meet people towards the Carthay Circle
Word around the online Disneyland community is that Flo's V8 Cafe recently changed its menu.
Now, apparently the Disneyland Resort is testing some new allergy friendly and food intolerance menus at select restaurants throughout the Resort up until Oct 20, 2014.
Flo's V8 Cafe and the Carthay Circle Restaurant are two of four restaurants that are experimenting with the new menus.
Guests can leave feedback, so it gives them the ability to make any adjustments and / or improvements needed before the allergy friendly menus become implemented
With that in mind, I am not sure if the new menu is a reflection of the testing phase
Over that the Treasures in Paradise store, with Duffy the Disney Bear gone, the window that used to display Duffy merchandise has been replaced with Frozen merchandise
And work continues with these structures
That will conclude this pictorial
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out

Until Next Time...
That was a very informative update along with great pictures, as usual. I am so mad that they changed the Menu at Flo's. I loved the pulled Pork dinner with mashed potatoes and vegetables. And the Coca Cola sauce was the icing on the cake, so to speak. What in the world is Allergy Friendly food mean anyway? Never heard of anything like that.
ReplyDeleteNow there is no longer anywhere to eat in either Park that tastes good or anything that I like, at all. No wonder I don't go anymore. Too crowded, to expensive and food is lousy. I would leave the resort and go across Harbor Blvd and eat at either Denny's or Pancake House. Their food is less expensive and tastes good. I even prefer the food at Universal Hollywood over anything at Disneyland or DCA. The Club 33 and Carthay Circle food are way above my budget, they are for well healed people than me. I am more like the average Joe on a fixed income.
I am guessing that "Allergy Friendly" foods are foods that do not contain any common food allergens such as nuts, milk, fish, gluten, etc. For some people, when certain foods enter the body, the body will think its harmful and release large amounts of histamine, trying to protect the body. Food intolerance refer to foods where specific chemicals and enzymes needed to digest a food item are absent from the body. People who are lactose intolerant is one example.
DeleteI loved seeing the clear shots of the Skyway Chalet. I've always been interested in that building. Something about an abandoned old building sitting in the middle of a busy, bustling theme park. It's somewhat eerie even.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention, the design is really cool. Wish they would repurpose it somehow. Gift shop? Meet and Greet? Cafe?
You know what's funny. As I was taking pictures of the Skyway Chalet, I was the only one there. But then I see some people stopping to take some pictures. I know a few people who stopped, knew it was the old Skyway, as they would mention it to whoever they were with. But then, there were some who just stopped, snapped a picture or two, and then just moved on. And I'm like thinking to myself "Do you even know what you snapped a picture of?!? Did you do it just because you saw me (and others) do it?" ha ha
DeleteHaha yeah, I often wonder if tourists that aren't regular visitors stop and wonder how they get on the abandoned rides of Disneyland, like the Skyway Chalet and the Peoplemover. I always imagine a group of tourists trying to find the entrance to the Peoplemover or something.
DeleteThere is nothing more embarrassing that riding the monorail and practically seeing the old PeopleMover track, deteriorating. I wonder what goes through people's (especially the tourists from other parts of the country and world) minds as they see the track in the bad shape it's in.
