Earlier in the week, the Anaheim and surrounding areas experienced a series of heavy winds. Knowing that the winds were to only last three days, I was still hoping they wouldn't last into Friday when I do my weekly pictorial as I really didn't want dust and dirt to be getting into my camera. But the weather turned out to be nice. It did warm up fast as it got into the 90's.
With a 9 a.m. opening for both Disney California Adventure and Disneyland, I visit DCA first.
Not bad getting in as there wasn't a high demand
Now the little girls can be fashionable
Disney California Adventure just opened and there is a line outside of Monsters Inc, just waiting to be let in so they can get on
Tower of Terror merchandise
Heading into Cars Land.
Nice view!
What is this?
The water stream is completely missing the cones to turn the wheel
Radiator Springs Racers was experiencing a slight delay on opening for the day
The painting along the buildings at the Pacific Wharf seems to have wrapped up
The year 1928, referencing Mickey Mouse's birth year (?)
Some new painted graphics
Charlie's Sardines ... kind of like Charlie the Tuna (?)
I really like the graphics that have been placed on the side of the Pacific Wharf. It really adds to the atmosphere and theming
While Grizzly River Run was closed for refurbishment, it didn't stop the water sprinklers to come on
Some ducks enjoying what little water is left at the moment
1
Can you believe that with these barricades, and the fact that there isn't anyone heading inside, that there were some people who were actually looking for the entrance to get on the ride. ha ha
No matter which direction they came to get to this point, they would have passes by parts of the ride and they could have easily seen it empty of water
2
The Little Mermaid should be opening this time next week
The silo still being worked on
3
The Blue Sky Cellar with a door open. I don't think it means anything, but I just took a picture of it because it's been months since I have seen a door open here. ha ha
Some new mugs
So I counted 3 attractions down at Disney California Adventure
Now it's time to head over to Disneyland now
While exiting, the main gate for Disney California Adventure was still very light compared to those at Disneyland
Main Street U.S.A. doesn't look that busy.
Normally I would start to the left and go through Adventureland or Frontierland, but today, I wasn't paying attention and somehow ended up ....
...here, at Alice in Wonderland. ha ha
1
We can see some metal framing for more structural support for the vine
2
"it's a small world" still under refurbishment
3
Mickey and the Magic Map closed for refurbishment
4
Gadget's Go Coaster refurbishment taking place
While walking past "it's a small world", I noticed Larry Nikolai from W.D.I. along with two other people.
I wonder what he's doing over in Disneyland.
Is he working on the Little Mermaid refurbishment?
Is he here working on the Alice in Wonderland refurbishment?
Did he just stop over to see how Alice in Wonderland's show scenes
Did he know I was following him?

Contrary to what other's may say, just because you don't see anything being done on the outside, doesn't mean anything is taking place inside the show building.
Work "may" finally be seen again sometime next week on the outside.
If work does take place, I am not sure how much activity we will actually see.
Of course, plans could change, but I just wanted to put the information out there.
Now, with the whole debate about whether closing Nemo is a cost effective measure to save money, I want to bring up a comment someone wrote on an earlier post of mine.

"The last few months have been pretty intense as all the work that needs to be completed is on a tight schedule. Fun seeing our equipment randomly on a blog. Again, thank you.
Finding Nemo is being refurbished to repair plaster, electrical and clean/coat structural steel beams and track."
So I think that's proof right there that indeed things are taking place at Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage and that it is not just sitting there.
Space Mountain looks ... a bit cleaner?
I though with the winds, that Space Mountain would be brown again. ha ha
Shake my head in shame that Guests must look at the abandoned track.
The weather was starting to really heat up that it seems like the Enchanted Tiki Room was busy just so people can go inside, sit down, relax, and enjoy their Dole whip (if they purchased it)
6
Rooftop view of New Orleans with the contraction of rails
In the jungle lies an ancient temple
7
With the heat, the only water ride to go on in the Resort is Splash Mountain
Putting on make-up, how cleaver
Looking at the picture, I see what appears to be soda coming out of the bottle. I can't help but think that he probably did that on purpose
8
Disneyland seemed very busy
I was getting annoyed with the crowds.
There were a number of school groups here as I saw groups in red shirts, blue shirts, yellow shirts, and green shirts throughout my short visit to the Disneyland Resort
9
Westward Ho Trading Co closed for refurbishment
Even the Native American that stands outside is gone for the moment
But don't worry, pins can still be purchased and traded at the wagon next to the store
Walking through Fantasyland, I wanted to do a walk through of Sleeping Beauty Castle. It seems like a lot of other people were thinking the same thing.
As I head down Main Street U.S.A. there is still a lot of people coming in.
I had to step inside a store for a bit to cool down before I made my walk back home.
I was looking at these retro style glasses, and I would love to get them, but I have no place to put them at the moment. ha ha
So after my visit, I see that Disney California Adventure had 3 attractions closed and Disneyland had 5 attractions, 1 theater show, 1 club member restaurant, and 1 store closed for refurbishment. The attractions closed were the big ones that Guests want to ride.
As I was leaving, I thought about how busy Disneyland was, and I thought "Maybe with all the ride closures, especially ones that can hold a lot of people either in line or on the attraction itself, that it made the park feel more crowded than it actually was"
That will conclude today's pictorial
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out

Until Next Time...
Enjoyable as always. I bet the heat today was nearly unbearable and with most of the water based or Air Conditioned it was probably not much fun. Too crowded in that heat. Thank you for braving that today so we can see what's going on.
ReplyDeleteTypically I don't mind the heat as I do enjoy the warm weather.
DeleteBut the combination of the warm weather, walking to the Resort, around two parks roughly in a couple of hours, carrying a camera, and crowds going where I want to go when no one was there in the first place, and them moving at different paces, it can start to get to me.
But I have to face as I do what I have to do. ha ha

ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU! Makes perfect sense.
I thought so. ha ha
