Earlier in the week, it came to my attention that I wouldn't be able to make it to the Disneyland Resort on Friday to do by weekly blog post. So I began to think of what I could do. Looking at my time frame, I noticed if had a small window of free time to visit on Thursday. Even with that window of time, I wasn't sure if I would be able to post the pictures the same day.
I just thought I would play it by ear and do what I could with what I got.
So we start out on Thursday visiting the Disneyland Resort...
Signs point out about the Lockers being closed on Main Street U.S.A.
Visiting Disney California Adventure. Somewhat of a demand at Park opening
The line to get a World of Color FastPass
It's so hot to have this ride closed
It's so hot, maybe a journey under the sea will cool me off.
Last weekend, The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel's Undersea Adventure reopened after a refurbishment took place.
I call this The Little Mermaid Ariel's Undersea Adventure 2.0
1.0 version was the official version
1.5 version was Ariel's ice cream hair redone in the Under the Sea room, plus new transformation animation in the decent and between Ursula's lair and Kiss the Girl
2.0 version is the enhancements
The ride got a few enhancements, most noticeably in the "Under the Sea" segment.
At first I thought the purple fish was sticking out it's tongue
Look at this stuff, isn't it neat....
Triton's Castle is now shown
Just like at Disney World, but from what I have seen, I think ours it a bit better
Fishies adorn the under sea segment
Now the fishes that swim in a circle are not longer on the spiral rod.
They now hang down from a rotating disk that is hidden above a ripple
New hair on both Ariel and Eric
Ursula is upset that her demise didn't get an enhancement
Eric and I got our hair did
Hope you enjoyed our new enhancements as much as we enjoyed receiving them
How long does it take to replace wood? ha ha
Disneyland time....
More signs on closed lockers on Main Street U.S.A.
#DisneySide
CLOSED!
CLOSED!
Jungle Cruise with a line stretching outside the building....
and Indiana Jones has a post of 10 minutes ha ha
Inside the Crystal d'Orleans, this side door is closed with a big glass cabinet
The walkway is closed
Big Thunder with a 5 minute wait!
Olaf, how can you survive in this heat?
Are the Guests waiting to see Ana and Elsa worth melting for?
Why?
Why is this person grabbing FastPasses for Roger Rabbit's Car-Toon Spin? Of all rides to get one. I mean, the wait is only 5 minutes. The time the picture was taken was 11:15 a.m. and the return time was for 11:45 a.m. Wouldn't it be easier and faster to just ride the attraction and get it over with. I mean, I doubt the wait will jump significantly in those thirty minutes. Because of the heat, Toon Town was practically dead
Some retro style themed merchandise.
Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain are featured on one cup.
Dumbo/Mad Tea Party/Carousel and Peter Pan featured together on another
Monorail and Matterhorn share the same cup
One more time at Alice in Wonderland
I wanted to ride the Disneyland Monorail for some snapshots of Alice in Wonderland, but they were closed. The heat did have something to do with it. I didn't want to wait all day, and with little time I had, I decided to just take what I have and return the following day (at a later time when I was available) and get the remaining shots.
Returning back to Disneyland on Friday May 16, 2014
Oh, you're kidding?
And no, they weren't.
They only had one monorail operating and the line to get on the monorail stretched down the ramp.
I didn't want to wait in the heat.
I thought I would just walk out of Disneyland to Downtown Disney station, board and ride the monorail, get some snap shots of Alice in Wonderland, walk out of Disneyland, walk back through Downtown Disney, and walk home.
But ... get this....
When I got to Downtown Disney, the Monorail's were closed ... AGAIN! ..because of the heat.
So I just took some more ground shots
Look how white the top two tiers look!
Well that will conclude today's pictorial
Sorry about not getting any shots of Alice in Wonderland's refurbishment
Hopefully when I return on Friday, I will be able to get some. Until then...
Feel free to leave a comment
Until Next Time...
I love the new lighting in the Under the sea scene, that, (along with the new fish "floating" above) really makes it feel like you are underwater.
ReplyDeleteI also really like that fish were added in the tunnels, it makes the underwater environment feel more "lived-in", if that makes sense.
I think the enhancements they did for the Little Mermaid are great.
DeleteWith the added fishes, it feels a bit more alive. When it comes the the Under the Sea segment, I know they wanted to recreate the same light, vibrance, and feel from the animated movie, but I think the room looks much better in black light
Indeed. I always knew what they intended (trying to match the bright look of the scene in the movie) and I always enjoyed it, but this is definitely an improvement.
