Summer continues with Star Wars Land construction and moderate crowds enjoying both parks.
Our first stop is Disneyland
Due to recent events, by the order of President Obama, all flags must be at half-staff in memory of the victims
This seems to be a common occurrence at the Disneyland Resort.
With all the violence and killings, maybe the Disneyland Resort should have it always half-staffed in memory of Past, Present, and Future victims
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was delayed at opening
Pirates was delayed for about 10 minutes before opening up for Guests
Refurbishment on Tom Sawyer's Island
Splash Mountain was delayed opening too!
Looking out towards the dry portion of the River while Star Wars Land construction takes place
Haunted Mansion was also delayed at opening
Riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Looking out towards Star Wars Land from the second lift hill
What!?
Now how am I gonna take pictures of dirt mounds and construction if this wall is in the way
Walls and more walls
Looking at the Disneyland Resort App, Haunted Mansion had opened up for Guests....
With the small child attacked at Walt Disney World last month by an alligator, I hope Disney doesn't get all PC and replace this portrait with something else.
I never quite understood this broken bust.
Is is suppose to be as though the shrub has caught the fall of the broken head portion?
Hope no one minds, but I decided to fix the broken bust.
So when I was in line for the Haunted Mansion, I was the last one of the elevator group to head towards the loading area.
As I round the final corner before stepping on the moving walkway, I noticed a woman sneak up behind me. I didn't think too much of it. Thought she wanted to be last on (of the elevator group) to get on. That way there was no one in the next doom buggy, which occasionally I have done for that same purpose.
When we passed the hitchhiking ghosts, I noticed there was no one in the car next to me (where she would have been).
I thought that maybe she waited a few empty cars to go by before she got loaded.
So when I get up, I am looking behind me, waiting for her to step out of a doom buggy.
All the way up the exit ramp, no one else got off.
I didn't think about staying outside of the exit to see if she would eventually come out, otherwise I would have.
It was just so strange, that it was on my mind, trying to find an explanation.
Creppy
A view from Tarzan's Treehouse
The second hut, where the book of memories are...
It seems like Guests didn't know you could touch one of the three faces of Tarzan in the book to bring up memories during his life in the mirror.
For years, I always thought that maybe Disneyland should just do the mirror automatically.
And it appears that it is now the case. Every couple of seconds, it seems to play a memory on its own.
Walking into Fantasyland, over towards the old Skyway Chalet
I thought about riding Casey Jr to see if I could see anything when the train rounds the upper bend.
But then I look up and saw what appeared to be a tarp fence.
I scooted further back and saw that they indeed placed a fence up there to prevent any kind of exposer to Star Wars Land construction
Heading out of Disneyland and into Disney California Adventure
8 bit Mike
FastPass machines were in use for Frozen Live at the Hyperion Theater
Too bad I wasn't gonna be able to make it to that show,
The Paradise Park fountain was in operation....
But then, like 5 minutes after me standing there, it stopped!
I waited a bit to see if it was gonna restart, but after a couple of minutes, I decided to leave.
This gives me a headache.
I am actually typing these statements while closing my eyes so I don't have to look at it.
Ugh
Soarin' Around The World merchandise
These cups have both Disneyland and EPCOT patches
If you haven't heard, a new App, Pokemon Go is the latest craze.
Many people (especially younger) had their phones out, trying to catch Pokemon throughout the Resort as I could hear the music and sound effects.
With crowds coming in, I head out...to Mickey and Friends Parking Structure
Star Wars Land construction
Rebar in place
That will conclude today's pictorial
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out.

Until Next Time...
I really love your updates! They are just perfect for someone like me who cannot make it to the park very often. It's great to get a weekly look at the happenings around Disneyland, and it's even more exciting seeing some real progress on Star Wars Land.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if or when they will be are able to get Big Thunder Trail back up and running with some temporary walls to block the view.
I am glad you enjoy the weekly updates, Jake.
DeleteJust like the building of Cars Land for Disney California Adventure, it's amazing how how they are able to create a "land" out of nothing. All the construction, it's really a site to see. It is unfortunate that we did loose the Skyway Chalet and some of the river bend.
Wow a new set of walls. I hope we don't get totally blocked out from seeing the construction. Hopefully from the parking structure we will still be able to see what is going on. I love to see the weekly progress. Thanks as always.
ReplyDeleteI hope we don't get totally blocked out too. But if these walls are specifically for Star Wars Land and not intrusion walls, then I understand.
DeleteYour HM story.
ReplyDeleteChills.
That's funny, I always assumed the memory mirror at the treehouse was broken, although I did remember it used to play scenes from his life when I was younger. Thank goodness that it's now automatic, it should get rid of a lot of the confusion! And thank you for the weekly reports, they're always fun to read.
