Christmas Time 2015 has officially started.
There is so much to do and see this Christmas Time
Especially with Star Wars Season Of The Force opening in three days
Today, I will start in Disneyland because I had a plan. The plan was to get to Disneyland early before the crowds hit, ride Jingle Cruise, take pictures of Tomorrowland, ride Small World Holiday, then wander a bit before booking it over to Disney California Adventure for Viva Navidad! in Paradise Pier
With it being a Marathon Weekend, and both Parks opening at 9 a.m., it was busy first thing in the morning.
Did my plan work?
Follow along to find out...
But be warned!
This pictorial is picture heavy
Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree
The flag pole is in my way-ay
The tree is decked out with traditional ornaments, as well as some to highlight blues and silvers for Disneyland's 60th anniversary
Diamond style beading is draped around the tree
The new Frozen window display at the Emporium
Elsa creates her Snow Castle, as well as Olaf
Olaf dreams of doing whatever it is that snow does in Summer
The Flower Market with a Christmas theme
Jingle Cruise was having some technical difficulties this morning.
But that's OK as it gave me a chance to get shots of the rest of the Park
Season of the Force invades Tomorrowland
The People Mover track getting some lovin' with Star Wars Season Of The Force banners hanging from it
The reds represent the villains.
Just a heads up, I am not a Star Wars geek, so I only recognize a few of the silhouettes on the banners
Darth Vader
And ...a second Darth Vader?
The blues represent the good guys
Luke Skywalker
Han Solo and Chewbacca
Princess Leia
Yoda
C3PO and R2D2
The Tomorrowland Terrace has been temporarily renamed as the Galactic Grill
Disney is going all out for the Season of the Force
Just a few pictures from Small World Holiday
Aren't there normally dancers on the bottom part?
Finally Jingle Cruise has opened
But when I got there, there was quite a hefty queue
Although the sign outside stated a 35 min wait
Whoa! Going upstairs?!
There have been probably like a few times that I have gone upstairs.
Using parts of the second story boathouse queue that I haven't used since ... probably back in 1994 when it reopened with a boathouse queue building
Marvelous engineering the way they route this upper level queue.
It really does fool people on the direction and path they are traveling
Finally on the ride
Only one African Bull Elephant is seen.
The "Mother In-Law" Elephant is MIA
Snow has fallen on the African Jungle Veldt
That was fun.
Time to make my over to Disney California Adventure
Oswald greeting a queue of Guests
Christmas comes to Grizzly Peak Airfield
Wind socks made from a Santa hat and ...leggings (??)
To see Anna and Elsa, no longer is a FastPass needed
Just queue up
Viva Navidad! time
Whew! I am worn out
And there's stuff that I had missed on this trip like Toon Town and A Christmas Fantasy Parade.
But there's always next week
So with that in mind, that will conclude today's pictorial
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out
Feel free to leave a comment
Until Next Time...
Another fantastic photo update. I like all the details on the Christmas tree in Town Square, which in past visits we would take a photo in front of, but never stop to pay attention to the various decorations.
ReplyDeleteNever been on the Jingle Cruise, but the photos make it look like a bunch of holiday ornaments strewn across the animal scenes. Does the narration make it worthwhile? I thought I remember that the decorations were a lot more understated in the first year of the Jingle Cruise (two years ago?), and people complained because it was TOO understated. (I'm also not a fan of the upstairs queue. Just when you think you are almost to the stairs going back down, there are more hidden turns.)
The Star Wars overlay looks a lot better than I had expected. Those banners are a nice touch-- I recognize many (but not all) of the remaining characters from the prequel trilogy and trailers for the new movie. I found it interesting that a Disney spokesperson told an OC Register reporter that Seasons of the Force is supposed to be a celebration of the first six Star Wars movies and not a fully immersive experience like the new Star Wars land will be.
Based on reaction to the media preview event on Thursday night and social media reports on Friday, the Star Wars overlay looks like it will be massively popular. If Seasons lasts until March or April, that should take away a lot of the attention from the Rivers of America, DL Railroad, and Jungle Cruise closures coming in January. I guess the TDA people are smarter than I gave them credit for.
Pretty sure that second Darth Vader is Captain Phasma, who we'll see in The Force Awakens.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the Grizzly Airfield photos!
ReplyDeleteThe adds suck....I understand the reason behind them. However..the audio wont shut up. I left.
