Friday, it rained for the majority of the day. And I dare not venture out to the Resort with my camera, as I have nothing to protect it from the rain.
To top it off, Friday was also the first official day of the return of The Main Street Electrical Parade. Luckily the rain had dispersed around the area in plenty of time for it to run both 8:30 pm and 10:30 pm parades.
With rain in the forecast, I wasn't sure I would be able to go to the Disneyland Resort for pictures. But, Saturday ended up being a gorgeous sun day, and so I grabbed my camera, and headed off to the Parks.
Because there are quite a lot of pictures in the pictorial, it will be broken up into two pictorials
Walking through Downtown Disney, new display banners have been hung up
We see ones announcing the Lunar New Year celebration at Disney California Adventure
You'll notice that the celebration goes on for two weeks instead of the usually 3 days they have done in the past.
The other set of banners announce the return of The Main Street Electrical Parade
The House of Blues building has practically been demolished. One wall on the north side seems to be the only thing standing
Whoa!
No lines to get into Disneyland.
And this is like 15 minutes before the 8 am opening
Pete's Dragon float graces the cover of the Disneyland Guide Map
Main Street Electrical Parade banners have been attached to the light poles along Main Street
Very festive
Waiting for rope drop
Disneyland opens for the day and the first place I go to is Big Thunder, but they are having a slight delay with opening, so I make my way around the Rivers of America
The Haunted Mansion was also having a delay with their opening. So I continue on to check out the Star Wars Land construction from Critter Country
Walking by, I see that the Haunted Mansion has opened.
I quickly check the Disneyland app and it states that Big Thunder is still closed.
So I ride the Haunted Mansion
Love it!
No one in line
The ride stops in the seance room.
No big deal.
So I wait.
And I wait.
And I wait.
And I wait.
The Epoch
Finally after 9 minutes.
Yup, 9 minutes.
The ride finally continues
After getting off the ride, they had already closed the front gates to the Haunted Mansion. And the Cast Members were telling people to check back
Finally, Big Thunder is open.
Choo Choo
As I climb the stairs leading into the station, an announcement comes on the loud speaker.
They are sorry to inform that the attraction is having technical difficulties and everyone, probably between 50 - 75 people, must turn around and reverse their direction in line.
This is where one of the trains got stuck, heading into the station
The Guests getting evacuated from the train
Star Wars Land construction
A look at the empty Big Thunder train and where it got stuck
With the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade, it looks like Disney decided to bring back the Diamond spire toppers
Oh look, blue tape as rooftop borders
Castle Heraldry Shoppe closed for business
Final weekend for the 2016 Christmas season of Small World Holiday
Love having a boat all to myself. And the boat in front of me had no one in it either. The boat behind me was loaded with Guests, but it must have taken some time with it cause their boat never caught up to mine.
And since there were no boats around with Guests, that means pictures with a flash!
Now I can try and get all the 20's in the attraction.
The 20's represent the 20th Christmas season of Small World Holiday

Happy New Year

4, it's in the snowflake design ornament

5 20's
Starcade looks to be no more in the land of the future
Inside the Star Trader, the quarter coin press machines have an animated screen
Very futuristic
Another look at the painters tape and diamond toppers
Miss Paint The Night?
You can still get the Made With Magic Paint The Night paint brush wand, celebrating Disneyland's 60th anniversary
Main Street Electrical Parade merchandise
Well well, looks like they made a mug of Mr. Potato Head.
And it's the post he uses as he takes out his ear.
Does he still do that?
Over at the Ink and Paint department...
That will conclude part one of Saturday's visit to the Disneyland Resort
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out. Hope you check out Part II
Feel free to leave a comment.
Thanks, Mint. The castle looks ridiculous with the blue edging. I wish they would just repaint/repair the roofs to their original color design. It's the off-season, now's the time to do it.
