When It Comes To The Disneyland Resort, A Safe-"D" Is A Better-"D"
Every thing looks so peaceful and calm.
How could anyone have a problem on a day like this.
Wait, what?
New rules
We are used to bags being screened, but now "all persons" too
Any type of gun and anything gun like is prohibited.
And costumes are only allowed for Guests 13 years and younger.
Disney. With metal detectors?
This can't be.
Did I make a wrong turn somewhere?
Instead of turning on Magic Way, did I somehow turn on Magic Mountain Pkwy
I hate how this is the sign of the times.
New metal detectors have been installed at the Main Entrance Plaza, as well as the Downtown Disney Mororail station and AMC Theaters (not pictured)
The metal detectors are being operated by an outside company and Guests are chosen randomly to get screened.
Disney spokesperson stated that this is not a response to any recent threat. Yeah, maybe not to Disney itself, but I do think it's a response to what's been going on in the world recently.
Do I feel any safer with the metal detectors?
No.
I don't feel any safe with them around, nor do I feel any safer with the bag checks. But that's just me.
Nothing like a little Christmas spirit to get back into happier thoughts
The park wasn't even open yet and Guests were able to walk up further than where the normal rope drop is held (next to the info booth)
Repainting on the Grizzly Peak Airfield restrooms
The Grizzly Peak rope drop in place
The Park soon opens and I go to ride Mickey's Fun Wheel
In the distance, I can see something that's new at the Cove Bar
It's a Cove Bar marquee sign
A new sea horse style ornament on top of the new canopy
You know what the water formation reminds me of?
The Blue Fair float from Disneyland's Parade of the Stars
More testing at Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters
The windows look to be completed with their lettering
Instead of FastPass tickets being handed out manually, the Hyperion Theater is now using the portable FastPass distribution wagons. Now it's like any FastPass where your ticket media is scanned
Heading out to Disneyland
This lucky person was chosen to go through the metal detector
Disneyland time
Guns are still allowed at the Frontierland Shootin' Gallery
Bang! Bang!
To make the park a bit more safer, flowers have been added to the Indian's gun
Inside here, you'll find no guns on any kind sold
Since I don't know if I'll make it to the Mark Twain before it goes down for it's year long refurbishment, I decided to hop on board and take a trip down the river
When I got off, the Disneyland Band had just finished performing out front of the Golden Horseshoe
Astro Blasters and Bubble guns have been removed from shelves inside the Little Green Men Store Command
I guess the only way to sell a gun is to have it attached to a Stormtropper
Phew Phew
Lightsabers, they are safe
Over at the Main Street Emporium, the last window display have been revealed.
And it's based off of Aladdin
Jafar making a cameo appearance
Speaking of Aladdin, it's time for my 11:15 am FastPass for the 12:25 showing
FastPass users use the main entrance
Stand By users use the double doors to the right on the main entrance
Looking back at the FastPass line (right side) and the Stand By (left side)
Waiting
While waiting in the Orchestra level queue, looking towards those who are waiting in the Stand By line
So I knew they were handing out these Star Wars pins today.
But when I first arrived, I went to Disney California Adventure and nothing was being handed out there.
Maybe it's only Disneyland since they are doing Season Of The Force.
So when I went over there the first time around 9 a.m., no one was handing anything out.
After Aladdin, I went back inside Disneyland to see if they were handing them out.
The Cast Members were handing them out, but they seemed a little stingy on it.
I saw a few Guests in front of me go through the turnstiles, and the Cast Member standing in front of it just "ignored" them. I thought I was gonna get the same treatment, but as I entered, I slowly put my ticket away and the Cast Member on the gate over from me asked if I got one yet. When I told her no, she handed one to me.
That will conclude today's pictorial at the Disneyland Resort
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out
