Wow, only 2 more weeks until the 60th celebration of Disneyland (Resort) kicks off. And as it gets close to May 22, 2015, more 60th anniversary decor appears.
Walking through Downtown Disney...
May 9, 2015 is the premiere for Brad Bird's movie "Tomorrowland" at the AMC theater at Downtown Disney
The Disneyland Resort ticket booths get a little 60th anniversary love
As night falls, the signage light up
60th anniversary color schemed flags entice me to visit Disneyland first, but I must decline at the moment. I have 25 minutes to kill before either Park opens, so I'm gonna head over to Disney California Adventure
Looking down Grizzly Peak Airfield...
A new sign for the airfield has been installed
But it's not ready to be revealed.
Over at Humphrey's, a new side sign has been installed.
A Fly 'n' Buy sign was previously in this spot
Over at the Carthay Circle Restaurant...
The marquee has been diamondfied
They look like little tiaras
Now it's time to go to Disneyland
Made it with 10 minutes to spare
The train station gets some bunting
And bunting on Main Street U.S.A. as well
Speaking of bunting...
The Mark Twain celebrates in its own way with bunting draped across the railings
Aww... no Hatbox Ghost today
Second story of the Jungle Cruise queue still being worked on
These are now a lighter shade of blue
They were dark blue with the white dots on them, just like the ones on the torch posts in the forecourt
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters facade has been repainted to Buzz Lightyear's color scheme
The marquee also matches
The Star Trader has a Star Wars themed window display
For the 60th celebration, they should reuse this and when the music ends, it opens up to reveal a diamond
The other day, the Tomorrowland side of the Matterhorn was being tested.
The howling wind was really loud
And you could faintly hear the growl of the Abominable Snowman
The Disneyland Monorail gets Tomorrowland movie decals
Grizzly Peak Airfield is getting some great touchups
Mickey better look out as there is a new face for Pin Trading. He's called Humphrey the Bear
In the short amount of time from when I left Tomorrowland and when I got back, the Matterhorn waterfalls were turned on
Forecast was for rain today
Mother nature taking place.
This one bird on land was eyeing the baby duck
It must have been really hungry and it was taking its time on when to strike
And there he goes
But the baby duck ducks underwater and the bird isn't able to get him
It's starting to sprinkle consistently and the Horse drawn trolleys are being put away in the back
We just back over to Disney California Adventure...
Another sign can be seen
"Welcome Campers"
The Little Mermaid received its permanent signage
This was a smart move to move the "entrance" inside the rotunda where the canopy queue begins.
So many people would enter through the rotunda from all the different openings, getting "lost" on how to get in.
Now anyone can come in any direction and easily find the entrance
The control tower to Grizzly exposed!
It typically has the curtains drawn as the sun beats down into it
Mad T Party slowly coming back
What?
Another new sign!
Humphrey's proudly serves Coca Cola to all the thirsty campers
Over at Julius Katz and Sons window, a new display can be seen
He's now a jewler? A diamond cutter? A diamond broker?
He's dealing with diamonds for this 60th anniversary celebration
For the Five and Dime, displays for the 60th anniversary celebration can be seen
Yeah, he looks happy
As I head home through Downtown Disney...
Set up for the movie premier continues.
That will conclude today's pictorial
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out
Feel free to leave a comment.
Until Next Time...
The last two Monorail shots of Grizzly Peak Airfield show DCA Park Vice President Kris Theiler inspecting the land, along with one of her Dockers-clad managers and his Junior Safety Patrol Helper. Kris and Dockers Manager are not wearing hardhats.
ReplyDeleteThe bunting is quite out of control. I hope they tone it down over the next few weeks.
