Welcome to this week's Disneyland Resort pictorial
There is quite a bit going on this week.
With today the official start of Spring, it also brings the Spring Break crowds.
Let's start off....
Disney California Adventure
The wall has been pushed back to accommodate the opening of Smokejumpers Grill, the new restaurant that replaced Taste Pilots' Grill
Unfortunately the restaurant doesn't open till 10:30 a.m.
So they have a Cast Member standing outside informing Guests that the area won't open until the restaurant opens
Getting things all nice and pretty
Lamp post at the entrance to Grizzly Peak Airfield
The Planes billboard still stands
The tarps on the Paradise Pier sign has increased upwards
Looking over at Luigi's Flying Tires refurbishment from Mickey's Fun Wheel
The smoking section over by Paradise Park, a.k.a. Maliboomer, has closed.
So right now, there are no smoking sections in all of Paradise Pier.
Could this be the start of a smoke free park??
With Smokejumpers Grill opening with the Taste Pilots' Grill menu, there is no need to continue with serving hamburgers.
So Paradise Garden Grill has reverted back to it's original menu
Today Grizzly River Run reopened from its refurbishment
I don't go on water rides
Especially with my camera
But I have been told that they placed fall protection throughout the ride.
We can see some of that fall protection themed to a wooden fence
The upper tier also received fall protection.
That upper part is right before you go around the bend to the first drop
More fall protection
Soarin' Over California's green paint
As with most attractions after a refurbishment, they seem to always be delayed at reopening.
Here we see a lot of Guests were waiting for Grizzly to open up.
While walking in front of Fiddler, Fifer, and Practical Cafe, I noticed this beautiful hummingbird
Sleeping Beauty Castle is getting all dolled up for the 60th anniversary celebration
We see some of the diamond toppers appearing on the conical spires
Frame work exposed for the diamond topper
Also appearing are two cool new towers placed on either side of the castle forecourt
Is there a giant icing bag missing a tip?
Ok, forgive me for saying this
Could I be the only one thinking this? maybe, maybe not
But when I look at these, I see "toppers", but not in the sense that Disney would like me to see.
They look like something you would use to covers ones nipples.
Another view of the new forecourt towers
Riding the Disneyland Monorail to see the progress of Grizzly Peak Airfield
With the recent addition of the forecourt towers, there doesn't seem to be a need for the old projection boxes that were along the edge of the Sleeping Beauty Castle moat.
Something is in there
I wonder if this light helps the "diamonds" shine when natural light isn't available
Splash Mountain has water flowing, which means ....
....logs are being sent through
Hungry Bear Restaurant looks like it's about ready to open.
But not today
Back at Disney California Adventure, a taping crew was filming for the opening of Smokejumpers Grill
The Cast Member who has been out there all morning is being interviewed
Doors open and we go inside...
Inside, we see decorative items that range from fire equipment, pictures, smokejumper gear, etc
M & H stands for Millie and Herb Madera
The menu for the new restaurant
A mention of Swill Family Robinson review in a newspaper clipping
A nod to Sharon and Susan from Disney's movie "The Parent Trap"
Pollyana mentioned in this newpaper clipping
Could this be Gus Gremlin?
Or just an unknown Gremlin?
A view of Fiddler, Fifer, and Practical Cafe from the Smokejumpers Grill patio
The new costumes
Now back to Disneyland for Springtime Roundup...
Roger Rabbit is back for another year of greeting Guests
The Easter Bunny can be found here as well
Mickey and Minnie in their Easter best
Egg decorating taking place for Guests to watch
These are eggs from last year
Starting to get crowded and time for me to head home.
Decide to board the monorail to take me out of Disneyland
That will conclude today's pictorial
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out
Feel free to leave a comment
Until Next Time...
