From A Possible Theme Park To A Theme Park Parking Lot

The Orange County Register's blog is stating that the area once thought to be an area for Disney's 3rd theme park is now going to be proposed as a "temporary" Parking Lot.

Over the past couple of weeks, a lot of work has been going on in the dirt lot behind the old Strawberry fields that Disney bought in the late 1990's.  With the hopes that the parking plan will be approved by the Anaheim Planning Commission, the proposed parking would add 2,570 new parking spots.

The proposed lot is in response to Disney's closure of  it's Timon Lot, which had enough room for 2,226 vehicles, for the expansion of Disney's California Adventure.

With a "temporary" parking lot, it does not discontinue the notion of a possible third theme park later on down the line. The proposed lot will be managed by Disney for a minimum of six year with a possible extension of 10 years.

Anaheim would also like to reserve some space for a possible transit link between a transportation hub and the tourist area.  Under the proposal, if the transit link is not ready in six years, the Disney  would have the right to keep the parking lot for  a total of 10 years

Once completed, visitors parking in the new "temporary" parking lot will be bus shuttled over to the Disneyland Resort.
