A Little Bit of Sunshine Shines Down on Paradise Pier

The new sun burst looks awesome! I never cared for the Mickey silhouette that once was in its place. This new burst of sunshine is what the Pier needs.  The sunburst is so much better and this really dresses up the Pier quite nicely.

The only thing that seems a bit out of place is the loop itself because it does not travel along the actual ring itself. Supposedly back during the construction of California Screamin', once the loop was installed, some in WDI thought about redoing it so that the coaster track would travel along the actual ring of the old Mickey, but after realizing that doing so would require not only more money, but also track modifications, that in the end, it wasn't in their budget.  But even with that "fault", I still appreciate what WDI was able to do.

  1. The anecdote about WDI wanting to "redo" the loop so it travels the ring is false. You'll notice that all roller coaster loops are oval, not circular. This is by design, since it minimizes the gravitational forces felt during a loop. It was never under consideration to change the shape.

Great pictures as always, but I just wanted to nip misinformation in the bud.
